View Ridge Remodel

This was, once upon a time, a worn out and dated View Ridge Midcentury Modern. But now? Behold the fun, peaceful and sophisticated urban farmhouse reimagined and ready to serve its family for many years.

The dining room sets the tone for this remodel: A little bit bistro (sideboard and chandelier), just the right mix of countryside retreat (oak floors, farmhouse table, and chairs). This melding of styles continues in the kitchen: Serving as the anchor are precision–made cabinets from the W.S. Feldt Cabinet Shop, painted a muted gray. They are warm and rich and ready to serve. The island, a stark white quartz, is committedly contemporary. And overhead? Rustic metal-and-brass globe light fixtures. Meanwhile, bi-fold doors open to allow deck to become outdoor dining room. But there is yet another place for family and friends to gather for a meal or celebrate a birthday: Just off the kitchen stands a large table surrounded on three sides by fat built-in bench seats. The living room, meanwhile, is grounded by the fireplace and its wall of cabinets remade by the Feldt Cabinet Shop. Design elements here bring in a bit of rustic sex-appeal with a woven leather side chair, large plants and hide-covered ottomans. Every room is bright and cheerful with light, light and more light streaming in through large windows and a gentle repetition of clerestory windows. All of this is set before white walls — the crisp canvas for this welcoming blend of design that is comfortable, classic, contemporary and downright seductive.
